Respected guests, dear friends, !

We send you our regards. Welcome to our islands. There are 36 islands, bigger or smaller, and rocks (513 km2) which make our archipelago. Seven of those 36 are populated. Three towns, two bridges and one lake determine this region:

OBRTNI7.gif (28980 bytes)CresCres-grad-luka , as a town is situated on the biggest Adriatic island, with history which is 7000 years long (the Neolithic man in Cres's caves). Throughout history liburnion - iliric tribes and also later Greek seafarers found their place here. They were followed by Romans and the Venetian Republic. Today, visitors, our dear guests from all over the world, admire this incredible place. Man and water together, stingy rocks, dives, sheep-herds that graze alone among  bare rocks, long-living people who collect God's gifts by everyday hard work in order to present them to their guests and friends. They're created a worm and welcome atmosphere which makes people feel at home.

Mali Losinj - luka

losinj.gif (3361 bytes)Mali Lošinj is known by its sea tradition, its special climate which cured the first visitor of the climatic medical center in 1885. This tourist tradition was started and supported by many honorable men of this archipelago. Ambroz Haračić was one of them. He did a lot for this area from the declaration of the climatic medical center (1892.) till the afforestation of not planted part of the island which is today hundreds of years old pine-tree forest. There is villa Karolina (1898.) which was built during the rule of Josef F Lovasy, Austro-Hungarian nobleman, Annunziata, a small church of Mary's announcement at the cape of the Čikat bay, a place where women used to wait and prey for their husbands to return safely. The bridge which is placed at the entering to Mali Lošinj, above the channel which was ditched through the narrowest part of the island, makes two separated peace's of land that are connected by the movable bridge. It makes possible for smaller boats and yachts to enter the port.

 Osorska katedrala

Osor is the small town today but as such completely itself as "a city museum". Its length and straitens as a rampart between the west Adriatic land and the East makes this town a the crossing of the roads that go from the West to East part of the islands Cres and Lošinj. A narrow band of few tenths of meter of land which used to link the two islands Cres and Lošinj, was favorable to trading development and was also creating a safe port. During antic period and Romans ruling Galleys would come and reload their cargoes so that the ships on the other side could take it farther. A channel was ditched through. It was the first movable bridge which today also serves modern seafarers by making their route shorter. The biggest peaks of the island Cres are about 650 meters high and are steeply diving to the 114 meters -the deepest spot in Kvarner (Adriatic). Cres is 11,5 kilometers wide, 65,6 kilometers long and only 2 kilometers wide on its narrowest part at the foot of the hill Sis (648 m). There are many different kinds of animals and plants - beautiful purple KADULJA. Thanks to our clean blue sea  there are 95 different fish species, 61 species of crabs with 160 kinds of snails, 3 sorts of bloom plants... There are also dolphins in shoals of 150 individuals.

Vransko jezero

Vransko jezero (The Vrana lake) was made out of legend what still makes it so incredible and mystical. Here's the legend:

There were two sister living in a valley. One good and poor and the other rich and evil. It was a very dry year. The poor sister not having food and water came to the rich one to ask for help. She roughly rejected her. On her way home the poor sister prayed to God asking for help. Suddenly , she heard a voice saying:" Go home and you'll find enough water and food to survive the dry year, but do not look back". She heard a heavy noise of water and couldn't restrain herself from looking back, In the same moment the poor sister turned into a rock from which a big spring of water begin to flow. That water flooded the valley and the castle in which the rich sister lived. The spring is still flooding today and supplies all our guests and us with fresh water. Contours of the castle can be seen during dry periods. Ones you drink this water, you'll returning here as if it is your home.
