Ustrine is a village settled on the west edge of island Cres. Its name originates from latin "Ustrina" which means "burning". People used to burn forest to make gardens and grazing lands. Near the village there's an interesting archeological locality. The ruins of a Roman villa where found beside the church of Saint martin, The villa had a small bathroom with warm running water.
Ustrine is a rich fishery area.
Below the village there are beautiful coves: Županja, Veli Žal, Baneštrovica and Porat. Every cove speaks for itself.
Opposite form Ustrine there are villages : Srem , Plat and
Verin.
