Climate

Considering climatic conditions, Lošinj is one of the most desireable islands of the Adriatic Sea. With about 2550 sunny hours a year, it is being classified among the sunniest areas of Europe. Thanks to its one hundred years old pine-tree wood, which slopes down to the beautiful beaches, it is also one of the most wooded islands of the Adriatic Sea.

Because of its moderate climate and unpolluted air, medical explorers recommend this region as an optimal environment for the treatment of bronchitis and asthma, and the most favorable period for it would be in March-April-May and in September and October. Furthermore, in treating psoriasis the best results have been noticed during the summer months, in a synergistic sea and sun combined treatment.

One might say Lošinj is, in the spring and in the fall, city-man's need and in the winter and in the summer-his pleasure.

Lošinj is 33 km long and from 0,25 to 4,75 km wide so the sea is always quite near, which is the reason why there is a light breeze, even in the warmest time of the year.

For more than a hundred years foreign and native visitors have been visiting Lošinj.

A reason for that lies in its good position, healthy and moderate climate, good cuisine and its fine wines, magnificent beaches and hidden coves, promenades and mountain tracks, as well as in the excellent drinking water coming from Vransko Lake, a natural phenomenon on the Cres island, to the south of the 45^th parallel.

Here you can find many coves, surrounded by a shady pine tree forest, which are simply made for passing the time in idleness and enjoying the sea and sun.
You can swim in perfectly clear water or you can explore the depths of the Adriatic Sea in one of 4 diving bases.
Romantic promenades by the sea, which have been embellished in the late 19th century, lure one to take a walk form cove to cove.
Today there are more than 100km of them.
This is a perfect place for tennis lovers, horseback riding, enduro, mini-golf, hunting, kayaking, windsurfing, panorama flying, cycling, mountain climbing…… Here you can rent a boat, a bicycle, a scooter etc. From cultural and entertaining contents Osorske večeri ( Osor Evenings) are standing out- concerts of chamber music with worldly famous artists performing. Historic monuments and art galleries bear witness to the times long gone…
The Museum in Osor, the art gallery in Mali lošinj, Venetian Tower in Veli Lošinj, a Shrine of the Queen of Peace on the Malin Mountain where believers form all over the world come to visit, on the beaches and in the harbour something interesting is going on all the time.
